1. Information We Collect
1.1 Personal Information Stored on Our Servers (Google Firestore)
This is the only category of data that leaves your device permanently. It is used solely to create your account and generate your astrological profile:
Birth Details: Date, time, and place of birth (required for chart generation)
Account Information: Name, sign-in identifier (e.g., Google Sign-In)
Gender (if provided)
Engagement Data: Login streak count tied to your account
1.2 Automatically Collected Information
Device Information: Device model, OS version, unique device identifiers
Usage & Crash Data: Firebase Analytics and crash reporting, used only to fix bugs and improve the app
Approximate Location: Only if used for timezone/Panchang accuracy — not stored on our servers
1.3 Information Stored ONLY on Your Device (Never Sent to Us)
The following is generated and stored exclusively in local storage on your device and is never transmitted to or stored on our servers:
Daily and weekly horoscope content
Panchang (Vedic almanac) data
Birth charts (D1 Lagna/Rashi and D9 Navamsha), in North Indian, South Indian, and East Indian display styles
Match-making / compatibility check results and any partner details you enter
Your conversation history with the AI Astro chatbot
Your selected language preference (English, Hindi, or Gujarati)
Because this data never reaches our servers, it is permanently lost if you uninstall the App or clear its local storage — we cannot recover it.
1.4 AI Chatbot Processing
When you message AI Astro, your message text is sent in real time to our AI service provider solely to generate a reply, and is not retained by us afterward. The visible chat history is stored locally on your device as described in 1.3.
2. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used strictly for:
Generating accurate Vedic astrology birth charts and predictions
We do NOT sell your personal data to any third party.
AskAstro is free to use and does not process any payments or in-app purchases.
4. Account and Data Deletion
You have full control over your data.
Server-stored data (Firestore): To delete your account and all associated server-stored data, use Profile → Delete Account in the App, or send an email to viralpshah98@gmail.com with:
Subject: "Account Deletion Request"
Your registered email address / account identifier
Confirmation that you understand all data will be permanently deleted
Processing time: within 7 business days. Data removal: permanently deleted within 30 days.
Locally-stored data: Delete this at any time by clearing the App's storage/cache in your device settings, or by uninstalling the App.
5. Data Security
Encryption in Transit: TLS 1.3/SSL for all data transmission
Encryption at Rest: AES-256 encryption for server-stored data
Secure Authentication: Firebase Authentication with OAuth 2.0
Access Controls: Role-based access, principle of least privilege
Regular Audits: Periodic security review of our systems
6. Your Privacy Rights
Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Correction: Update or correct inaccurate data
Deletion: Request deletion of your account and server-stored data (Section 4)
Data Portability: Receive your data in a machine-readable format
Opt-Out: Unsubscribe from marketing communications
GDPR (EEA Users): Right to object, restrict processing, withdraw consent, lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority
CCPA (California Users): Right to know, right to delete, right to opt out of sale (we don't sell data)
7. Age Requirements
Minimum Age: 13 years
Ages 13–17: Require verifiable parental or guardian consent before creating an account
Under 13: Not permitted to use the App under any circumstances
We comply with COPPA and India's DPDP Act (which defines a "child" as anyone under 18, requiring guardian consent for that age range) by requiring parental consent for all users aged 13–17, globally. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with data, contact us immediately at viralpshah98@gmail.com.
8. Data Retention
Account Data (Firestore): Until you delete your account
Locally-Stored Data (charts, horoscope, chat, match-making, streak): Until you clear app storage or uninstall
Usage/Crash Logs: Up to 2 years / 90 days respectively
9. International Data Transfers
Your server-stored data may be processed in:
United States: Google Cloud Platform servers
European Union: Firebase EU region (for EEA users, where configured)
India: Primary operations and support
We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and other safeguards recognized under applicable law for international transfers.
10. Sensitive Topics, Safety & Content Moderation
AskAstro is designed strictly for astrology-based guidance, entertainment, and self-reflection.
We do not provide, and the AI Astro chatbot will not provide, medical diagnoses, treatment recommendations, medication guidance, or dosage information — including anything framed as an astrological "remedy" or "health insight."
We do not provide, and the AI Astro chatbot will not engage with, content related to self-harm, suicide, or harm to others. If your message suggests you may be at risk, the chatbot is designed to decline the request and instead point you to professional help and crisis resources (see our Terms of Service for helpline numbers).
These safeguards are best-effort and are not a substitute for professional medical or mental health care. In a genuine emergency, contact local emergency services directly — do not rely on this App.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified via the App or your registered email, with an updated "Last Updated" date above.
